Inheriting a love for R&B music (The likes of Luther Vandross and Toni Braxton) from his mother mixed with a love for pop, rap, and rock, such as Ariana Grande, Drake & Tina Turner, D. Gibs has quickly forged his own distinct identity. As he will tell you “All Genres inspire me is an understatement. I’m just telling a story and the sound/aesthetic is built around it”, says the Pg County, Maryland-based artist who has spent years juggling being a fashion model and musical artist.With a release (Cd &Digital) set for October 26th, 2020, unconventional is one way to sum up the man who goes by D. Gibs. His new upcoming album, “Luv Me Now” is a direct reflection of a creative mind painting a portrait on canvas through lyrics and vibrant colors. He often refers to his work as “Jumbo genre stew”.
At age of 10, He first saw the pop culture movie franchise “Sister Act” and was hypnotize. The movie sparked an interest in music and storytelling. The tape was rewinded on VHS until it broke. Gibs knew music was the answer to everything. Since then, he has been actively writing songs about personal experiences and modeling in the fashion industry, He’s been published in magazines, such as Mordant , Malvie, Horizont, and etc.
